Local Government Aid (LGA) – City Jobs Base
Chapter 366 (H.F. 3149) as passed during the 2008 legislative session establishes a city jobs base factor for calculating aid to local governments for all cities with a population of 5,000 or more. The jobs per capita number is based on the average annual number of jobs in a city as certified by the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
The timeline for this certification is as follows:
| May 1, 2008 | Job data available by this date used to calculate city jobs base. |
| June 1, 2008 | DEED certifies total job level for each city (see preliminary certified job counts). DEED's employment data for individual companies is confidential and cannot be disclosed. To view detailed job counts by industry for your city, please see www.deed.state.mn.us/lmi/tools/qcew/default.aspx. |
| June 20, 2008 | Cities must report any objections to certified job levels to DEED (fax objections to 651-215-3841 or e-mail to cityjobsbase.objections@state.mn.us) by this date. Objections must include specific information including contact name, phone number and name(s) of employers that may have misreported employment data. |
| July 15, 2008 | DEED completes investigation of objections and certifies data (including adjusted data) to Minnesota Dept. of Revenue (see final certified job counts). |
