DEED ON THE ROAD: Summer 2008 TourDEED on the Road:
Summer Tour 2008

We are pleased to announce a series of informational discussion sessions on topics of interest to the economic and workforce development communities, local elected officials, the media and others.

The sessions will be divided into two parts – DEED Overview and JOBZ Training.

Schedule of Events  For more information contact:  651-259-7432.

DEED Overview:

  • Legislative session wrap up:  What passed, what didn’t, and the implications for communities, organizations and businesses.

  • New infrastructure application process:  New funding is available to support publicly-owned infrastructure.  DEED is creating a new application process for local organizations to gain easier access to infrastructure financing resources.

  • JOBZ – the short explanation:  JOBZ lives as a development tool.  The DEED Overview will highlight the major JOBZ changes that are coming as a result of legislative and DEED administrative changes.

  • Workforce innovations:  Get the latest on FIRST grants, Regional Innovation Grants, WIRED, and other initiatives.

JOBZ Training:

  • In-depth discussion of the “new” JOBZ:  DEED JOBZ staff will discuss new JOBZ procedures, including: state involvement and criteria in the approval process; standardization of the Business Subsidy Agreement; verification of clear job, wage, and capital investment goals; increased monitoring of annual performance; and new and modified reporting by the business.  If you have JOBZ responsibilities at the local or regional level, this session is a “must” to learn and provide feedback on the new administration of the program.

Lunch will be on your own.  You are welcome to attend one or both sessions, depending on what information is most relevant to you.
